Whale Quest: Working Together to Save Endangered Species
Whale Quest is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of whales and other marine mammals. We work with scientists, researchers, and policymakers to protect these animals from threats such as pollution, climate change, and overfishing.

Whales are keystone species, meaning that they play a vital role in the health of the ocean ecosystem. They feed on krill and other small organisms, which helps to control their populations. Whales also fertilize the ocean with their waste, which provides nutrients for phytoplankton. Phytoplankton are microscopic plants that form the base of the ocean food chain.
Whales are also important to the cultural heritage of many coastal communities. In some cultures, whales are considered to be sacred animals. In others, they are a source of food and income.
However, whales are facing a number of threats. Pollution, climate change, and overfishing are all taking a toll on these animals. Pollution can cause whales to become sick or injured. Climate change is causing the ocean to become warmer and more acidic, which can harm whales' food sources. Overfishing is reducing the number of prey available to whales, which can lead to starvation.
Whale Quest is working to address these threats. We work with scientists to study the effects of pollution and climate change on whales. We also work with policymakers to advocate for policies that protect whales and their habitat.
In addition to our work with scientists and policymakers, Whale Quest also educates the public about the importance of whales. We offer educational programs for schools and community groups, and we produce films and other resources about whales.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting whales. By working together, we can ensure that these amazing animals continue to thrive for generations to come.
How You Can Help
There are many ways that you can help Whale Quest protect whales. You can donate to our organization, volunteer your time, or spread the word about our work. You can also make choices that reduce your impact on the environment, such as driving less and eating less meat.
Every little bit helps. Together, we can make a difference for whales.
Success Stories
Whale Quest has been involved in a number of successful conservation efforts. We helped to establish the first marine protected area in the United States, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. We also worked to ban the commercial whaling of humpback whales. And we are currently working to protect the North Atlantic right whale, one of the most endangered whales in the world.
We are proud of the progress that we have made, but there is still much more work to be done. We will continue to fight for the protection of whales and other marine mammals until these animals are safe from all threats.
